[weekend] my fort of boxes

Moving day came and went, and I think the fact that I am still around to update this thing means that I survived this incredibly stressful ordeal. Really, this experience makes me realize that there is a lot of value in living a minimalist, uncluttered life. (Now, only if I could convince myself to stop buying books).

M and my brother were total troopers. We made two trips from Forest Hills to Brooklyn, starting at around 11:30a and finishing up around 9:30p. I have to go back to the old place maybe a couple more times to clean up and make sure that I didn't leave anything super important back there. I think I'm going to get all sappy when I go back there. Roommates nonwithstanding, it was my first grown-up home.

The new apartment, however, is just as, if not more, wonderful. I have lots of bright morning sunshine, and a nice breeze coming in from my windows. The selling point for me for this place really was the fact that it has three windows in the main living area, instead of the usual two for most studios.

I'm a tad bummed that a good chunk of my Sunday was wasted waiting for the cable guy. I was told that my appointment was between 2-5p, and like I've been telling everybody, of course the technician was going to arrive closer to 5p. So, I went out to a quick brunch at Pomme de Terre (really, I don't know what this restaurant is doing in my part of Brooklyn), but went home soon afterwards. I didn't want to leave the apartment since, with my luck, he would've arrived when I wasn't there and then I wouldn't get my internet installed -- and what an awful fate that would've been. Anyway, I now have the internets at home, so all is well with the world.

And yes, it was so nice to hop on a train, go four stops and then be able to hang out with Kris, Ian and M for a couple of hours. I finally saw the (in)famous Carmen San Diego tape, and more than ever, I think that my boy is so utterly adorable.
