Am on episode 22 of Brilliant Legacy
*am not sure what I love more - the scene with the blanket or when Hwan extends his hand to catch drips in a cave so Eun Sung won't get wet - what I really love about Hwan is that he is incredibly straightforward - he doesn't play games and he has no 'shame' - he is in love with Eun Sung and he doesn't care if Other Girl and Other Guy know it.
* Speaking of other guys, poor Jun Se oppa - I find him dead boring, but he is a nice guy. Awwww. ETA: I take it back. Fuck off and die, jerk! You are trying to be manipulative and guilt Eun Sung into not dating Hwan? Fine. But anyone who has the gall to tell Eun Sung she shouldn't date Hwan because of Seung Mi's love for Hwan while knowing the way Seung Mi treated Eun Sung and wrecked her life is not only insane but should die in a ditch. Preferably after contracting leprosy. How Jun Se can even dare say out loud that Eun Sung owes Seung Mi anything? Hell, if I were Eun Sung, I'd date Hwan even if I didn't like him just to pay Seung Mi back some small percentage of misery she and her Monster Mom inflicted on me. The only thing Eun Sung owes Seung Mi is a bunch of hard slaps and Jun Se trying to pretend otherwise for his own selfish reasons is SICK. I don't care if he told Eun Sung she shouldn't date Hwan because she owes Jun Se himself too much and it would hurt him or even because of family issues (her missing brother, the fact that Hwan's family hates her etc) but he is trying to come across as unselfish and in the process the justification he is trying to use is inexcusable. *puke*
* Ahhhh, Seung Mi. UGH BITCH. (The glee of viikii commenters in anything bad that happens to her is hilariously delicious). Actually, the drop scene is better than the blanket scene for me because Seung Mi is there to see it. HEEEE. In your face! I want Hwan and Eun Sung to make out and send you the video which you would be forced to watch. In jail. The funny thing is, I don't hate any of her OTP-interloper stuff, I hate the way she wrecked Eun Sung's life - keeping her father away from her, not returning her money, wrecking her new-found place in a new family, etc. I would be happy with anything that hurt her - and her weak point is Hwan. I would love her face to be ground into the OTP not because she should be punished for loving Hwan or because she interferes with Hwan/Eun Sung (she doesn't, really) but because she needs to be punished in some way for the damage she has inflicted on Eun Sung through selfishness and maliciousness.
* THE KISS. It was the most gorgeous first kiss I have seen in a kdrama since...Spring Waltz, also starring Han Hyo Joo (she is awesome!) I am not sure what I loved more - the dreamlike atmosphere, what Hwan told her right before, or the fact that it was on a rickety, unstable bridge which is totally symbolic for how the ground has shifted under their feet utterly, emotionally.
* Lee Seung Gi is much too young and doesn't look at all like my type normally, either (there are no chiseled features in evidence) but he acts Hwan so well and the character of Hwan is so amazing that somehow I realized I find him ridiculously sexy as the eps progress - in each ep he is better-looking than the previous one and now I find him completely gorgeously irresistable even if objectively I realize he isn't.
I have also started Eyes of Dawn - I think I will have to devote of block of time to it as it does not look like anything you can watch casually. Also, sort of need to prepare myself - the heroine gets brutally raped in the first 10 minutes! I knew it was about comfort women but I guess I thought they would ease into the brutal parts of the storyline - they did not.

Looking for a place to live? Well we have two great options for you off the Graham L-stop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Room #1: $750/mo, has window overlooking the street and door right off the living room. Can fit queen-sized bed, desk, and wardrobe. Share bathroom with current roommate.
Room #2: $900/mo, has window overlooking courtyard and door off the end of a hallway, very spacious. Can fit queen-sized bed, bookcase, dresser, and has enough floor space for an air mattress. Also has a closet and private bathroom with shower! (pic below)
The apartment: Has a living room/kitchen/dining area. Bedrooms are unfurnished. Your share of the monthly bills are usually just under $100 (cable, wifi, gas, electric). Apt is on 2nd floor.
The neighborhood: Extremely safe. Everything you need is within walking distance (4min walk to subway, 5mins to grocery store/laundromat/bars/restaurants/cafes) . Block is full of mostly 20-somethings. 10 minutes to Union Square on the L-train.
Your roommate: 25, female, grad student in social work. Has an infectuous laugh, two lovable cats, and an affinity for treats (and likes to share!).
You: Must be gay-friendly and cat-friendly!
Interested? Send an email with some info about yourself and your availability to come check out the rooms. 2 months security deposit & pro-rated July rent required upfront.
You can email me at Laurenkwade@gmail.com or via the craigslist portal: which has pictures (!) http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/roo/1 262333381.html
Thanks and happy renting!!

Was going east towards the NJTP on 278 and passed about 20-25 bikers riding west out of LI into Brooklyn. This was at about 4:55pm. They were holding up traffic a lot. Behind them were a bunch of police cars lights flashing. Was this some sort of parade? Cops trying to get to them to stop them from holding up rush hour traffic? Anyone?

Not much has been happening to my life this past week, except.. payday week sooo...

I got a new haircut. very, very short. I haven't had this short of a hair since.......... Grade 6? No wait.. Never mind, I had shorter hair 2-3 years-ish ago.
Anyway. yeah, huge change for me, considering I've only been getting medium-length layered hair cuts for the past few times I've been to my hair stylist.
So new haircut also led me to finally buying a hair straightener since my wavy hair just can't pull of that look/style I want without looking like a potato. I ended up spending a fortune on that one. *sigh* Let's just hope I don't burn my hair with the extreme inexperience. :P
Other than that, there was a 50% off everything sale at PLEN+Y, so I bought 2 new handbags.
ADDICTED.
yes. There goes my paycheque :P It's only been a day, too. LOL!

Clearly Noah has embraced the Dartboard Method of Supervillainy here.

See, now this is what happens when your archvillains do stupid contradictory shit that makes no sense.
Maybe he was tutored by Fei Wong Reed? I dunno. But here we go, another chapter of Soul Eater.
( WHERE ARE MY FEATHERS, DOUCHEBAG?!?! )

Not only giving us the freedom to paint as we please, but because we're willing to paint over the old crap (I use crap loosely), he opened a line of credit for us at a local place, and all of our painting is funded!
Oh the possibilities.

What stores in the city sell Harry Potter shirts?
Kind of a stupid question, but I just moved to NYC and left my Harry Potter shirt at home! D; So I want a new one for the midnight showing of HBP next week, but have no idea what stores in the city would sell Harry Potter shirts. I know some place other than Hot Topic has to sell them!

any likeness to persons living or dead may or may not be purely coincidental. honestly, guys, apart from the names, i don't think you'll find much effort to maintain a resemblance. i can assure you, however, that no malice was intended in the creation of this silly little thing.
please don't sue/kill me. let me know what needs fixing via email/text/comments and i'll fix it ^^

DUDE. NO WAY. I went to Santa Cruz, the town nearby, because my mom insisted I should go to one of those tanning booths. I fucking hate them, but I digress. In the way, I stumbled into this shop, which has the most epic name a shop of their profession can have.

BUTCHER SHOP CURTIS
I kid you not!
I. I don't even know. This is the most bizarre and awesome coincidence ever!
And for the record no, the person attending the store was just a normal old man. If it had been a large, muscular guy with a beard, or a woman with dreadlocks, I would've died of LOL.And ask for a picture.
ETA: OMG the picture is so epic it summoned chapter 97 into existence! ♥ *downloads*

Seriously, a couple of hours into any given anime con or professional conference now, I feel like such a tool. For one very particular reason - the dumpy, totally unremarkable...and fairly huge...laptop that I lug around, and that I dropped seven hundred bucks on two years ago. The main reason for feeling like such a tool mostly has to do with every time I walk into a Best Buy, or Radio Shack, or, hell, even the local Target or something, and see all those netbooks the size of a paperback, and going for like three hundred. I mean, it's not like I *need* my laptop for anything other than checking e-mail, LJ, and my Russian military forums!
(of course, here is when I also think about one of my own personal hang-ups - I have no problem spending twenty bucks a day twenty times, but think long and hard before dropping two hundred once. Which tends to make acquiring *anything* like, say, a new TV, more complicated than it ever needs to be...)
---
There's really nothing I have to say about Michael Jackson, except, perhaps, the vague feeling of relief that they scheduled that whole thing this past Tuesday, as opposed, to, you know, when the 45 or so thousand otaku were all right there too. But there are obvious things to think about that are inspired by Michael Jackson...
It's inevitable that in the next ten or fifteen or whatever years, there are going to be more things like this. Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Paul. And the obvious question is, will there be an outpouring of...something...for each of those, to put this and Princess Diana to shame, or are we just at the point of 'oh, another one? Bleh.'
---
Even further ideas that went nowhere: A freebie, ad-supported newspaper with 'content' composed of reprinted blog posts.
Well, hey, it was an idea...though I couldn't quite get the point of dropping cash on distributing copies of a notionally Chicago and SF-oriented paper on the corner of Wall Street and Broadway...
---
Current favorite LIS/law librarianship phrase: "The universe of thinkable thoughts"
